Amino acid fertilizer is a fertilizer made of amino acids as the main ingredient and a certain amount of organic or inorganic nutrients.
There are many kinds of amino acids, the most common ones are glutamic acid, glycine, phenylalanine, serine, methionine, etc., as well as polymers such as polyaspartic acid and polyglutamic acid. Due to the large variety of amino acids, there are also many amino acid fertilizers on the market. According to the raw materials, they can be divided into two types: one is plant-based amino acid fertilizers, the main raw materials are fermented products of soybeans, soybean meal, corn bran, peanut bran, as well as soy products, monosodium glutamate, and wood processing waste. The second is animal-based amino acid fertilizers, the main raw materials are animal hair such as feathers and bristles, animal blood, offal, low-fat fish meal, silkworm pupae, and slaughterhouse waste.
According to the organic and inorganic nutrients added, it can be divided into amino acid organic fertilizers, amino acid mineral fertilizers, amino acid organic and inorganic compound fertilizers, etc.
According to the fertilizer application method, it can be divided into amino acid water-soluble fertilizer, amino acid foliar fertilizer, amino acid compound fertilizer, etc.; according to the fertilizer form, it can be divided into amino acid liquid fertilizer and amino acid solid fertilizer.
The role of amino acid fertilizer:
Glycine in amino acid fertilizer can increase the content of plant chlorophyll, promote the absorption and utilization of carbon dioxide by crops, increase the power of photosynthesis, and make photosynthesis stronger. At the same time, it can promote the early maturity of crops and shorten the growth cycle.
The various amino acids in fertilizers can improve the quality of crops. For example, the protein content of grains increases by 3%, and the cotton flowers are of good quality and long fibers. Vegetables have good palatability, pure and delicious taste, less crude fiber, large fruits and vegetables, good color, increased sugar content, more edible parts, and good storage resistance.
After being absorbed by crops, amino acids can enhance their physiological and biochemical functions. The stems of crops are thick, the leaves are thickened, the leaf area is expanded, the formation and accumulation of dry matter are accelerated, and the crops can mature early. Due to their own vitality, the resistance to cold and drought, dry and hot winds, diseases and pests, and lodging is improved, thereby achieving stable and high yields.
Amino acids have a special role in promoting the root development of crops. Many agricultural scientists call amino acid fertilizers “root fertilizers”. The main effect on the root system is to stimulate the division and growth of root meristem cells, so that seedlings can root quickly, increase secondary roots, increase root volume, and elongate the root system, which ultimately leads to a greatly enhanced ability of crops to absorb water and nutrients.
Reasonable application of amino acid fertilizers:
Due to different raw materials and formulas, the effects of amino acid fertilizers after application are also different. When using them, you should choose according to the main ingredient content and actual use marked on the package.
For example, amino acid water-soluble fertilizers with added trace elements such as boron and zinc are mostly used for spraying or flushing before and after the flowering period of solanaceous vegetables, because boron can promote flower bud differentiation and increase fruit setting rate. Amino acids have the effect of promoting fruit swelling and color change, ensuring fruit quality.
Amino acid water-soluble fertilizers with added medium elements can be used for foliar spraying during vegetable growth, which can prevent the deficiency of calcium and magnesium in plants and reduce the incidence of chapped skin, navel rot and yellow leaves in the middle and lower parts. If the main raw material of amino acids in fertilizers is MSG waste, since most of the raw materials contain ammonium sulfate, be careful not to mix with calcium fertilizer when applying to avoid precipitation.
In addition, amino acid fertilizers also need to be used at vegetable growth nodes. Because of their different formulas, they are suitable for different vegetable crops. When purchasing, they need to be selected according to the season, type of vegetables and growth period, so that their fertilizer effect can be fully exerted to achieve the goal of high quality and high yield.
For example, in hot seasons, due to more adversities, the root system of vegetables is often weak. At this time, choosing amino acid rooting agents for root irrigation can stimulate and promote the growth and development of the root system, improve the root system’s resistance to adversity, and also play a role in maintenance and soil improvement. Spraying amino acid foliar fertilizers before and after the flowering period of vegetables can not only promote the flowering and fruiting of plants, but also has a good effect on improving the quality of fruits.
Precautions for use:
Amino acid fertilizer has a very wide range of applicability: it can be applied to field grain crops, cash crops, fruit crops, and all kinds of melons and vegetables. It can be applied by flushing, spraying, covering the soil, or soaking seeds and dipping roots. Spraying has a better effect, with a seed dressing concentration of about 1% and a spraying concentration of about 300-600 times.
Amino acid fertilizer is a nutritional fertilizer: it is mainly used to supplement nutrients for crops and promote absorption. Therefore, it can often achieve more significant effects of promoting growth, increasing production, and improving quality when used on crop plots with poor growth and insufficient nutrients, as well as in the middle and late stages of crop growth. In addition, when using amino acid fertilizer, it is more conducive to crop absorption on soil plots with relatively neutral acidity and alkalinity. This fertilizer should be used as topdressing, not as base fertilizer.
Because different types of amino acids have different effects on crops, when using amino acid fertilizers, it is better to mix multiple amino acids and use them in combination with other mineral element fertilizers as needed. If used alone, it is difficult to exert good fertilizer effects and thus fail to achieve satisfactory results.
